If you see one of the following city symbols, you are already in Florence...
Otherwise, here find some info to get here
There are three airports which can be used to find us.
"Amerigo Vespucci" airport of Florence, served by national and international (european) carriers. Although the airport is only a few kilometers from the Polo Scientifico, there is no convenient bus connection yet. The best way to reach the campus from Florence airport is by taxi. "Galileo Galilei" airport in Pisa, served by national and international (european) carriers. There is a convenient train connection between the airport of Pisa and the railway stations of Florence and Sesto-Fiorentino (about 1 hour). The train to Florence is more frequent than the train to Sesto Fiorentino. "Leonardo da Vinci" International airport of Rome. There is a fast train service between Rome and the main railway station of Florence (Santa Maria Novella) (about 2 hours and 30 minutes). From there continue by bus (see above). |
From Florence Rifredi train station
Exit/side "Vasco de Gama" (opposite to the main exit), on the other side of the street you find the bus 59 (every 15-20 minutes) that arrives (last stop, in about 15') just inside the campus in front of the Physics Department (opposite to the Chemistry Department where instead the stop is). |
From outside Florence
From the north (Milan) or from the South (Roma) follow the A1. From Pisa follow the A11. In both cases exit at Firenze Nord (toll booth). Follow the freeway in the direction of Florence and exit at Sesto Fiorentino. Go in the direction of Sesto Fiorentino and you will find the Polo Scientifico (scientific campus) on your right hand side. From inside the Florence area Follow signs to the airport. Enter the freeway (no toll) in the direction of Pisa and exit at the first exit (Sesto Fiorentino). Go in the direction of Sesto Fiorentino and you will find the Polo-Scientifico (scientific campus) on your right hand side. |
It is a bit harder to reach the campus on foot.
From the railway station of Sesto Fiorentino it takes about 25-30 minutes, from the railway station of Zambra it takes about 15 minutes. If you decide to go on foot, from the railway of Zambra turn left down "Viale dei Mille" (which becomes "Viale Pablo Neruda"), turn right at "Via Pierpaolo Pasolini", then left at "Via Lazzerini". This street will take you to Polo Scientifico. From the railway station of Sesto Fiorentino go right and follow "Via del Trebbio", "Via Girolamo Savonarola", "Piazza della Chiesa", "Via Galileo Galilei", take a right into "Via Cesare Pavese" and walk straight all the way along "Viale dell'Osmannoro" until you get to the Polo Scientifico. |
